<description>When I fly home to Iowa, the farmland from above resembles a giant patchwork quilt of color and texture. As the plane draws closer to the earth, the details of the individual crops are discernible. This relationship of near and far inspired me to propose a new visual identity system for John Deere comprised of mosaic patterns. Each corporate subgroup consists of unique icons specific to that division; very individualized, yet unified across the entire system.

<description>U2 frontman Bono and Bobby Shriver of DATA organized (Product) Red as an initiative to raise money for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Seeking an identity for a brand licensed to partner companies, they came to Wolff Olins who proposed six concepts. Various sketches illustrate my thought process during the ideation stage of the project showcasing design concepts that portray the elimination of AIDS, raising the awareness of AIDS, and the use of blue to symbolize aid. Under the direction of Karl Heiselman, I was a member of the 4-person team who brought his bracket concept to life for the primary presentation of identities to Bono and Shriver.

<description>DJ Asmosis needed an identity system to promote his services in Minneapolis, MN. I created various center stickers for vinyl records to hold his name, contact information, and a brief resume. These records were then cut down to serve as business cards and interiors to his demo CDs. Demo CDs are designed to resemble a vinyl record, and covers are cut from actual album covers used in the mixing process. Album cover sections are also used as flyers for upcoming events, with typography applied on vinyl tape.

<description>Penske came to Interbrand seeking a new identity system that felt clean and minimal. This called for a custom photo shoot to capture strong and captivating imagery. Under the creative direction of Craig Stout and Mike Knaggs, I managed day-to-day activities defining this system, including commissioning renowned German photographer Steffen Jagenburg, developing a shot list, selecting models, organizing a production schedule, developing client relationships, art directing photo shoots in Pennsylvanian and Arizona, and overseeing post-production retouching. Final deliverables included stationery, print collateral, web design intent and guidelines. Additional details available at gopenske.com.

<description>Greenwich Academy is an independent, all-girls college preparatory day school located in Greenwich, Connecticut. Founded in 1827, the state’s oldest girls' school sought an identity for its athletics department that uses the nickname Gators. The primary mark’s versatility allows the option for the logotype and symbol to live independently of one another.

<description>The Prince of Wales’s feathers is the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales. It consists of three white feathers emerging from a gold coronet and is used as the identity for the Welsh Rugby Union. The current interpretation of the badge is extremely abstract, to the point the feathers are not discernible but rather a collection of abstract rectilinear shapes. The organization came to Interbrand for a potential new identity and I developed this mark consisting of more realistic yet simplified feathers bound by the letters WRU atop a subtly implied crown.

Objective:
Our clients, EMC, Cisco and VMware had challenged Interbrand to develop a business strategy, name, identity and visual system for their new joint venture into a compelling private cloud computing solution.
Deliverables:
Interbrand was to provide the following as well as assist in setting a two phrase launch timetable of development:
A. Business and Market Strategy
B. Naming and Tone of Voice
C. Identity and Visual System
D. Website development for soft launch
E. Animation on website for soft launch
Strategy Solution:
The private cloud computing solution is powered by the strong alliance of the three brands and differentiated by providing customers with processes and services to transform their companies to the private cloud.
The transformation to the private cloud gave us the bases of the brand’s personality attributes of:
Expertise
Focus
Passion
This attributes and the idea of providing transformative impact to the private cloud drove the naming and creative exploration.
Naming: Acadia
The name “Acadia” was selected for best capturing the brand attributes. Derived from the Greek Arcadia, meaning pastoral utopia, the name Acadia announces the emergence of a more seamless IT landscape. Amidst all the technological clutter and complexity, Acadia is your bridge to a simpler, more enabling environment.
Creative:
The identity, visual solution and tone of voice created express the brand idea of transforming customers to the private cloud in an impactful manner that is immediately seen in their business. The basis of a predominant use of black for all visuals reflects the stature and expertise of the Acadia. The illustrations represent the journey that customers take with Acadia as their business is transformed from one direction to the next in a passionate and focused manner. The vertical nature and upward motion of the graphic system is also a visual interpretation of transformation to the private cloud. The identity provides the endpoint of success to the journey and illustrates the confidence that the alliance of three companies provide.
